Coptic Bound Sketchbooks with Sue Wood | Adult Workshop
During this one-day workshop you will learn how to make a journal or sketchbook using the Coptic stitch. Paint your own covers, then bind your book using one of the oldest known bookbinding stitches. This process allows the book to fold out completely flat. Suitable for beginners.

About the event
During this one-day workshop you will learn the two needle Coptic binding stitch to produce a hard-cover book with a decorative chain stitched spine and pages that open flat. It is perfect for sketchbooks, notebooks or a special photo album.
The technique is less complicated than it looks and requires a minimum of equipment. This workshop introduces students to multi-section binding by using the Coptic stitch to make an A6 sized book with 64 pages of Kent edition drawing paper. We will look at a range of cover options and you will learn how to adapt the basic design to create books of different sizes and shapes.
