ARTIST BIO
Peter is a Queanbeyan based artist with a deep affinity for nature and the environment. He first studied biology and ecology and worked in science and conservation, later studying printmaking at the ANU School of Art & Design (2006-2009).
Since then, he has maintained a practice of making, continuously exploring new ideas and techniques. He exhibits regularly in both solo and group exhibitions with his most recent solo project ‘Distant Friends’ attracting funding support from the ACT Government and being exhibited in Brisbane and Canberra.
Peter is also a respected teacher of printmaking, presenting workshops and classes regularly in varied contexts ranging from the ANU School of Art and Design to Megalo Print Studio to Woodford Folk Festival to name a few.
Working across a range of printmaking techniques, as well as drawing and installation, his work explores the materiality of nature, and our physical, emotional, and spiritual relationships with nature, place and each other. His work is grounded by a respect for traditional technique and craftsmanship and activated by a desire to explore new territory.
