ARTIST BIO
Karen's interest in birds, particularly parrots, stems from early childhood memories. She spent time observing the character and social behaviour of wild birds and watched her pet budgerigars and cockatiels.

Karen completed a Bachelor of Biological Science at Latrobe University which has contributed to her practice, being informed by both scientific and creative interests in the natural environment.

Karen loves printmaking as a medium to explore her interests in birdlife, as it facilitates experimentation, and provides the capacity to use the same print in a variety of ways. She often employs relief printmaking methods to create linocuts and monoprints. During Covid lockdowns Karen collected foliage from her garden, and started playing with eco-printing as backgrounds for linocuts.

Karen works from her home studio and Firestation Print Studio
